As The Cotswolds Property Specialist, our market is not immune to the fluctuations in interest rates announced by the Bank of England last week.

Whilst many buyers in the Cotswolds are cash buyers, there are a significant number who will require a loan to some degree, and with the rise in interest rates the market is quieter while buyers, and sellers, take stock.

Having said that, Butler Sherborn currently have four quintessentially cosy Cotswold cottages available across the Cotswolds and they are all attracting good levels of interest.

Mill Cottage, Coln St Aldwyns, 14 The Derry, Ashton Keynes, The Thatch, Todenham and Bramleys, Shipton-under-Wychwood.

All of these enchanting cottages are in charming and popular villages, although the villages are quite different from each other, in terms of location within the Cotswolds and therefore their character.

Mill Cottage, Coln St Aldwyns- Guide Price £525,000-  is a very pretty semi detached two bedroom cottage with a south facing garden and private parking. It dates from the late 18th century, and is in a quiet corner of the village behind the former cornmill. The cottage has dormer windows, roses over the door and period details including window seats, and exposed beams and timbers. With two good sized reception rooms, a vaulted kitchen/breakfast room and two en suite bedrooms, it is an idyllic village property with views across a field to the church from the rear.

Coln St Aldwyns is an unspoilt village of great charm, with water meadows, old park land, a Norman church, terrific pub, cricket club and a wonderful community run village shop.

14 The Derry, Ashton Keynes -Guide Price £625,000 – is a beautifully presented two bedroom detached cottage, again with a south facing garden. The Derry is double fronted and believed to date back to 1880. It is situated on the edge of the village, half a mile from the centre. The cottage retains period features including exposed beams, ledge and brace doors and window seats. It has been updated over the years, and has double glazing and stylish kitchen and bathroom fittings.

Ashton Keynes is a thriving village lying close to the Wiltshire/Gloucestershire border. The village has a primary school, village shop, pub, village hall, playing fields, tennis courts and a church.

The Thatch, Todenham -Guide Price £700,000 – is a detached character cottage, which has recently been renovated and presented to a high standard. It is immaculate and has a contemporary kitchen and open plan living area, with three decent sized bedrooms. Outside the property has a mature garden and parking for two vehicles. The garden has Cotswold stone back borders with pleached limes and a variety of box hedges. The Thatch has been a very successful holiday let, but is equally an excellent lock up and leave or idyllic full time home.

Todenham is a typical pretty Gloucestershire village in a Conservation Area, and is surrounded by rolling countryside with good walking and riding. Todenham Manor Farm shop offers outstanding local meat and produce, and the area has a good selection of gastro pubs.

Bramleys, Shipton-Under-Wychwood – Guide Price £ 895,000  - is a beautifully presented three bedroom attached Grade II Listed Georgian stone cottage with pretty gardens, a stunning studio/annexe, garden room/home office, double garage and ex-tensive parking. Bramleys is a charming Grade II Listed Cotswold stone cottage with a Georgian façade. It has been carefully restored and sympathetically extended to provide a wonderful kitchen/breakfast room to the rear. The cottage retains many period features including sash windows, original cupboards, a stunning inglenook fireplace, and exposed, stone beams and timbers. Adjacent to the courtyard garden is a stunning vaulted studio with a utility/kitchenette and a contemporary shower room that would be ideal as a spacious home office.

Shipton-Under -Wychwood is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside between Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton and Burford. It is an ancient village, close to neighbouring Milton-Under-Wychwood, and between them they have a variety of shops, a bakery, coffee shop, library, post office, cricket, football and tennis clubs , as well as excellent pubs.
