Event Details - Exhibition dates:Date: 20 March – 24 April 2024Location: Gothic House, Charlbury, Oxfordshire
About the Exhibition: Opening to mark the Spring Equinox, Branch Arts “Reflection on Light” brings together twelve female artists who respond to light in their practice. As the seasons influence our mood and social interactions, the change of light through the year plays its part on all. This group exhibition will explore individual stories behind the artist’s own relationship with light. Each of the twelve visual artists in this show have been influenced by light in their practice. From Nina Murdoch’s thorough study of light as her subject to Susan Derges whose process relies on exposure to light, the exhibition will be a survey of contemporary artist's response to an age-old inspiration.
As part of the exhibition and within a separate room in the Gothic House the Vigour+Skills Makers Collection will be proud to showcase a diverse range of exquisite craftsmanship, including ceramics, leatherwork, jewellery, basketry, and hand-blown glassware. This part of the exhibition serves as a platform to champion the artisans behind these masterpieces and share their inspiring stories with the world. During the exhibition, 32 carefully curated pieces from our talented makers will be on display, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in the world of skilful artistry and innovation. The exhibition is not merely a display of objects; it is an immersive journey into the passion, dedication, and unique perspectives that each maker brings to their craft.
