Burford is a vibrant, friendly and thriving community with the old High Street at is heart. Founded in 2001, The Burford Festival aims to give all in the area an opportunity to widen their horizons by sampling new experiences at affordable prices.

The Festival takes place biennially, and is run entirely by volunteers, with any surplus funds raised being distributed to local charities.

The Festival has three clearly stated aims, each of which is designed to benefit the local community. These aims are the advancement of knowledge and understanding of the arts; the promotion of good citizenship and civic responsibility, by grants and support of youth groups, and the advancement of knowledge and understanding of the historic heritage of Burford, together with the preservation and conservation of the environment of Burford.

With such clearly defined aims, and almost twenty years of experience, The Burford Festival is extremely well supported by the town and is a much anticipated event, with arts and entertainment for all ages and tastes.

In 2024, the Festival begins with the Mayor’s Reception in Warwick Hall (free) on Thursday 6th June through to Sunday 16th June when it concludes with a celebration of English Music in Burford Church with the Burford Singers choir. The venues used during the ten days range from the beautiful church to the golf club, bowls club, the Tolsey Museum and Warwick Hall. The gardens in the area are open on two days, and all events are ticketed.

From military bands, jazz, ceilidh’s and classical music, there is a comprehensive choice of music available. In addition, to theatre and plays and poetry, there are several thought provoking and stimulating talks addressing more philosophical issues, and lectures on particular artists. With Kenton Cool’s talk, ‘Adventures on the Mountain’, exploration and physical challenges are also on the menu.

All Tickets are available on line via the excellent web site, together with full details of all events and the times. Events | Burford Festival

Cotswold Rural Scenes

Rural Sales - Market Comment

The national farmland market in 2024 was the busiest it's been for some years. It was influenced by a General Election, anticipation of CGT changes in the Autumn statement, and, following that, the unexpected proposed changes to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief.
